Once upon a time, 7-year-old Olivia was in The Nutcracker as a Toy Doll in the fight scene. During rehearsals she befriended the girl who was the Teddy Bear. They got to dance together with Clara and the Nutcracker and thought they for sure had the best parts in the whole ballet. That girl was Hannah.
Little did we know the fight scene in The Nutcracker would be the start of a long friendship and now 17 years later I have the privilege of documenting Hannah and Alex's wedding and the moments leading to it. My friendship with Hannah has meant the world to me, and getting to watch her and Alex fall in love and get to be the one trusted to document it means so much to me. It's always extra special when I get to photograph the people I love.
Going into Hannah and Alex's formal session, the forecast was not looking good. We didn't have many options for rescheduling, so we powered through, hoping things would clear up. We got to our location and within 10 minutes, the pouring rain turned to a drizzle, and we decided it was go time. We had no idea how long we had until the rain started up again, but miraculously, we finished getting all the photos we wanted. The rain stopped just long enough and started right back up the second we got back to the cars. I don't want to jinx myself, but Mother Nature is always on my side when it comes to bad forecasts the day of my shoots. I'm not even mad about the stormy skies we got instead of golden hour because the contrast with the green hills is something magical.
We're now just a couple of days away from their wedding, and I couldn't be more excited and happy for these two! Both Hannah and Alex are filled with so much love and joy that you immediately feel it when you're with them. I can't wait to celebrate their love! (and if you happen to be at the wedding, you'll probably catch me tearing up all day long) Hannah and I have gone through so many stages in life together, and I'm so excited to watch her and Alex enter this one!
